Abstract

The ecological problems of natural and artificial reservoirs adjoining to the nuclear power plants are analyzed, in particular cooling ponds, which are influencing of all complexes of anthropogenic factors: thermal discharge, chemical pollution, eutrophication, mechanical stress, and additional irradiation by man-made radionouclides. The hydrological and hydrochemical of processes in condition of the high temperatures of aquatic environment, productional and destructional processes and forming of water quality, biological obstacles, potential vermin threats, and also behaviour of radionouclides and radioecological risks for hydrobionts in aquatic ecosystems are considered. The basic problem tasks of hydroecological safety of nuclear power engineering are stated.
