«Wikipedia» as Information Society Cultural Element

Abstract

The article investigates the free electronic encyclopedia phenomenon in the context of changes provoked by information technologies diffusion, which affects the science and education development, breeds knowledge usage and keeping new forms. Problems concerning “Wikipedia”, in particular its Ukrainian segment, expediency and scientific and educational importance are viewed through the prism of national culture nowadays existing under the globalization pressure.
