Contribution of scientists of NAS of Ukraine into the solution of the liquid biofuel production problem

Abstract

Power industry based on traditional sources use – coal, oil and gas has been growing intensively during last decades that it’s evident these resources will be exhausted completely. Furthermore contemporary power industry is very hazardous to environment. That’s why today more attention is paid to the problem of ecologically clean and renewable resources search. Biofuel is one of a series of alternative power industry solution. The main results of the investigations carried out by scientists of NAS of Ukraine are discussed in this article. The most important ones are new crops and species of cultured plants that can be used for bioethanol and diesel oil fuels manufacturing. Mutant forms of methyltrophic yeasts are deduced for an extending the base of bioethanol resources. New surface active compounds as well as high octane substances are proposed for an augmentation of ethanol concentration in biofuel. Suggestions on review and improvement of the programs of biofuels production development in Ukraine are formulated.
