Abstract

The authors critically analyzed the project «A strategy of economic and social development of Kherson region». Besides the fact that it’a accepted in this document that the direct cause of ecological disaster (downstream effect, salinization, wind erosion, soil humus and fertility loss, degradation of river net) is excessive soil plowing up and large scale hydro-technical construction in the second half of the 20th century the authors of the strategy underestimate a number of action items on the region ecological rehabilitation. In particular, it’s considerable (by 20-25%) reduction of stub lands and irrigated lands on account of damaged and low productive soils, set up of reserve and buffer territories, econets, eco-corridors, forest ranges and forest shelter belts as well as continuous removal from service of the most dangerous hydrotechnical constructions regarding water filtration. It’s highlighted in the article that it’s necessary to implement tasks of primary importance directed on development and implementation of resource saving technologies in industry, power engineering and agriculture and, in particular, to optimize sowing change method based on introduction of new cultures that have properties to use atmosphere water at most and to produce high quantity of crops without irrigation.
