Ukraine in the geopolitical space: historical dimension

Abstract

The report deals with a systematic study of the formation of the geopolitical space of Ukraine in historical retrospect and at the present stage. The emphasis is placed on the relevance of the issues related to the understanding of cultural and civilizational factors in the geospatial development of Ukraine, including in the context of the European security environment, the action of centrifugal and centripetal tendencies in Ukrainian history, colonization, migration and urbanization processes, the influence of "cross-cutting" geopolitical and cultural factors on the dynamics of the spatial development of the regions of Ukraine in historical retrospect, as well as the identification of threats to the civilizational identity of Ukraine.
