The complex assessment of the packed water
Abstract
The results of complex investigation of 30 types of drinking packed water applying biotesting method, chemical and microbiological analysis are summarized. Chemical composition of water of the prevailing brands with the exception of rear cases met the standards accepted for drinking water. In most packed water types the high toxicity was not detected for animal and plant test-organisms; during chronic experiments the picture is different — practically all samples displayed toxic properties. The three fourth of the investigated water types evidently caused increase of nuclear abnormality in the cells thus stipulating genotoxic effects. It’s expedient to apply biotesting for complex evaluation of drinking water quality, including packed water, together with standard methods of chemical and biological analysis.
