Abstract

November 24, 2015 marked the 130 years since the birth of Academician V.G. Drobotko (1885-1966) – world-renown scientists, director for many years of one of the leading scientific institutions of biological profile – D.K. Zabolotny Institute of Microbiology and Virology of NAS of Ukraine. He was one of pioneers in using bacteriophages, with a team of sciences decoded a then-unknown horse disease – stachybotryotoxicosis, founding a new direction in microbiology – mycotoxicology, devoted significant attention to questions of chemotherapy of infectious diseases, explored the antimicrobial properties of plants. He has penned more than 160 scientific works and 7 monographs. His life is an example to follow for current and future generations, for all who chose a difficult path – the path of truth and science.
