The report states that the Institute of Geography of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine is one of the leading institutions that has been conducting research on the development and implementation of the principles of Ukraine's transition to sustainable development for many years. After the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine by the Russian Federation, the Institute launched targeted research aimed at analyzing the impact of the consequences of hostilities on the environment, social and economic spheres of the state. The war prompted a fundamental rethinking of urban development priorities, ways to achieve a balanced and integrated post-war development of Ukrainian cities and regions. The results of these studies provide a scientific basis for assessing the scale of human losses, environmental, social and economic damage caused by the aggressor.
