«The borrow-strategy» and development of the science

Abstract

The article deals with the problem of S&T and innovation strategies selection in Ukraine. It is dealing with discussion on benefit of borrow-strategy in technology sphere of Ukraine. Authors analyze concrete models of economic growth and the role of S&T in it. Special attention is paid to the experience of Japan, East Asian states, which achieved spectacular results in their development in recent decades. This analysis shows that the harmonization of different aspects of the industrial, scientific and social policies is the key factor of success. They suggest that Ukraine has to use the strategy that will differ from the strategies of newly-industrialized countries. The role of the state has to be central at this stage of transformation.
