The article systemically discusses the topical issue related to the creation and use of military drone swarms. It is shown that the world has seen a transition from individual uses of UAVs to group and mass use, the culmination of which is the swarming of drones — mobile autonomous unmanned vehicles (air, ground, underwater, or surface), programmed to perform appropriate tasks. The features characterizing drone swarm are listed, and the general conditions for the implementation of swarm intelligence are defined. Swarm technology can also be used to combine UAVs with other robotic means. The current state of creation and prospects for the use of drone swarming technology, primarily for military purposes, in the leading countries of the world are analyzed. It is concluded that in the next 10-15 years, with the development of swarm intelligence, complex weapons systems and the novel materials, drone swarms will enter the stage of dominance.
