Remote sensing in solving geo-environmental problems of Ukraine: current state and prospects

Abstract

The report presents the most important results of scientific research in the field of application of methods and technologies of remote sensing of the Earth for solving urgent applied problems in the field of geo-environmental security. The theoretical and methodological basis created by the specialists of the Scientific Centre for Aerospace Research of the Earth of the Institute of Geological Sciences of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine opens up opportunities for the integrated use of space and ground-based information systems in geo-environmental studies of lithospheric, hydrosphere and atmospheric environments. A number of relevant practical implementations of these developments in the environmental, socio-economic and climatic areas of application are considered.
