Abstract

The report notes that the adoption of the Constitution of Ukraine in 1996 marked an important milestone in the creation of an independent Ukrainian state. The changes that were made to the Basic Law are considered in historical retrospect. The author analyzes the ways of further constitutional development of Ukraine. It is emphasized that constitutional reform is objectively determined by the socio-political situation in the country and should serve to eliminate contradictions and inaccuracies that have accumulated during the validity of the Constitution of Ukraine.
