Abstract

Solution of complicated ecological problems in the context of change-over to sustainable development requires the appliance of thermodynamic, synergetic approaches based on the theory of non-linearity, which needs conversion of qualitative characteristics of ecological factors to quantitative variables. Application of methodology of synphytoindication developed by the author enables the usage of a large variety of contemporary mathematical methods and the estimation the type of dependence between the change of ecosystems and biotopes. The issues of structuring and development (succession, synevolution) of steppe and forest ecosystems concerning their protection, the character of energy transformation are considered on the basis of notions of fractals and catastrophes. The issues of species invasion and spruce forest drying in the Carpathians as result of climate change are raised.
