Abstract

A method of numerical simulation of electromagnetic shielding of underground high-voltage power cables magnetic field is developed. The screening properties of various unclosed electromagnetic shields, comprising several flat or U-shaped conductive elements, are explored. A new shield of two U-shaped conductive elements is designed. The magnetic field screening efficiency of the designed shield is about 20% higher than the screening efficiency of known electromagnetic shields with the equal specific quantity of metal. The possibility of the cable lines magnetic field reducing through the use of the own high-voltage cables shields is explored.
