Abstract

On the basis of the charge-size parameters of ions and basing on ionicity of bonds, a new criterion of basicity of inorganic compounds in the condensed state is proposed. The general regularities of the formation of complex (with mixed cation or anion) inorganic compounds — novel materials for interference optics are established. It is shown that this parameter makes possible to anticipate the direction of the exchange reactions, which are the basis of action of the alloying additives to fluoride and sulfide materials of the binding process (deactivation) and complete elimination of oxygen-containing impurities. Selected additives can significantly improve the optical transparency and mechanical durability of obtained optical coatings.
