Abstract

The article attempts to determine the place of Russia's war against Ukraine in 2014–2022 in the system of political, military, legal and ideological coordinates, a typological series of wars of different generations. The immanent characteristics of this confrontation are outlined, the genocidal direction of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine by the armed forces of the Russian Federation and the destruction of the sovereign Ukrainian state as Kremlin’s strategic goal, the gradual escalation of the war into a global crisis are noted. The definition of the immanent features of rashism as an ideology and political practice of the Russian leadership in recent decades is formulated. The main and priority directions of scientific comprehension and elaboration of the problems of Ukrainian-Russian relations in the historical retrospect and in the context of the modern Russia’s war against Ukraine by the representatives of the disciplines of the humanities cycle are indicated.
