Abstract

On November 30, 2021, Kyiv hosted the International Symposium "Paton Scientific Traditions in the Light of New Challenges to Modern Science", which was held under the auspices of the International Association of Academies of Sciences (IAAS) and was dedicated to the 103rd anniversary of Academician B.E. Paton, long-term President of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. The event was attended by Ukrainian and foreign scientists and organizers of science, presidents of IAAS academies, representatives of governmental and non-governmental organizations, UNESCO, the European Commission and other international organizations involved in science development, dissemination and use of scientific results. We present the text of the report of Academician of the NAS of Ukraine V.P. Horbulin about the role and contribution of B.E. Paton to the development of the space industry of the former USSR and independent Ukraine.
