Abstract

The article describes a new approach to the investigation of the dynamic stability of magnetic bodies in an axially symmetric magnetic field. We consider a Hamiltonian for a broad class of models with a symmetric top that interacts with external axially symmetric fields. Necessary and sufficient conditions of the dynamic equilibrium for a new class of models with a symmetric top are found. Motion equations in the form that is convenient for the numerical simulation are obtained.
