Abstract

Ultrafast ring-closing dynamics of photochromic molecules (i.e., difurylethene-based diarylethene derivatives) in ethanol solution was investigated by the femtosecond time-resolved pump-probe spectroscopy. The transition time from open to closed isomers is close to t = 1 ps. The verified experimental technique and the obtained results can be considered as a basis for the design of optically managed multifunctional organic nanodevices with specified parameters.
