The interaction of antitumor cytokine EMAP II with gamma-cyclodextrin (γ-CD) is investigated. The exposure of aromatic amino acid residues in the structure of the recombinant cytokine EMAP II has analyzed. It is found that γ-CD binds specifically with EMAP II, the most likely binding site being partially exposed residue Trp128 localized in a recess on the surface of EMAP II along with the functionally important lysine-rich cluster.
