The article presents studies revealing negative changes in the age structure of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, highlighting an accelerating decline in the number of researchers. The annual loss of researchers significantly exceeds the replenishment by younger scientists, leading to a decrease in academics and an increased loss of the middle generation. The study argues that merely attracting young talents is insufficient; it is crucial to create conditions to retain these researchers. In addition to adequate funding, the state and society must shift their attitude towards science, recognizing that post-war recovery based on scientific, technological, and innovative development is impossible without advancing the scientific community.
