Abstract

A new method for relatively simple transformation of weakly magnetic minerals (goethite (α-FeOOH) and hematite (α-Fe2O3)) into strongly magnetic mineral (magnetite (Fe3O4)) was developed. It was shown, that transformation of structure and magnetic characteristics of go ethite and hematite are realized in the presence of starch at relatively low temperatures (in the range of 300—600 °С). Obtained results open up new possibilities for development of effective technologies for oxidized iron ore beneficiation.
